District Chief executive of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district, Hon. Odoom, has distributed a whooping ten thousand oil palm seedlings to farmers in his district. This is as part of the Planting for Export and Rural Development programm (PERD) Programme.
The Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) Programme is a decentralized National Tree Crop Programme. It’s motive is to promote rural economic growth and improve household incomes of rural farmers through the provision of certified improved seedlings, extension services, business support and regulatory mechanism.
Today in Breman Asikuma, at the district Assembly, Hon Odoom outlined government efforts to help make agriculture attractive especially within his district.
“President Akuffo Addo indeed has farmers in my district at heart. This and several other agriculture related programmes being initiated by our President is an indication of his love for farmers in A-O-B district. I am confident in him that more initiatives shall be enrolled in ensuring the betterment of the agricultural sector ” Hon Odoom hinted.
The 160 registered but non-partisan farmers who received the seedlings were much appreciative of the strong lobbying skills of the DCE, Hon Odoom. A beneficiary stated in an interview with the correspondent of ghatlarge.com that he believes that the long lasting harmony between the DCE and the Member of Parliament, Hon Anthony Effah has been the basis of this success story.
“You see, the long lasting harmony amongst the DCE and our MP is historic. It has never happened in A-O-B. We hope and pray that their good relation even deepens further. I am convinced that the seedlings we are receiving today has been by the cordial effort of the duo” he disclosed.
